November 24 2021
On Monday 8th November, our Ultra Sonar Systems HR team across our three regions gave their time to the Ronald McDonald House Charity (RMHC) as part of our Giving Back Days initiative. RMHC is an independent nonprofit organisation whose mission is to create, find, and support programmes that directly improve the health and well-being of children.
You can read more about what each of our regional teams accomplished below:
Australia:
In Australia, we spent the day at Ronald McDonald House in Adelaide, which provides accommodation support and meals for families who live more than 100km from the Adelaide Woman’s and Children’s Hospital.
Our team was the first group of volunteers since RMHC re-opened to volunteers post-COVID restrictions, so there was plenty of work to be done! We dusted, mopped, swept, cleaned out cupboards, checked food date currency, disinfected toys, books, playgrounds and furniture. We were also able to socialise with some of the families. It was an enriching day with a sense of pride having been put back into the community.
We are continuing to support RMHC with a Christmas food drive.
UK:
In the UK, we spent the day at the Ronald McDonald House in Oxford. Throughout the morning, we tidied up the front garden area of the property by removing litter and leaves. In the afternoon, we were asked to clean the family kitchens (all seven of them)! One thing that COVID has taught us all to do is how to clean. We were thoroughly exhausted by the end of the day but felt we had contributed to a very worthwhile charity.
Canada:
In Canada, the HR team spent the afternoon at the Ronald McDonald House in Halifax preparing a meal for their Home for Dinner program. The day started with the team purchasing groceries to prepare a meal for 30 people staying at the Ronald McDonald House or visiting the family rooms at the local hospital. Once on site, the team worked together to prep, cook and package caesar salad, garlic cheese bread and lasagna in their fully equipped kitchen. It was great to provide healthy home-cooked meals to families that have spent their whole day at the hospital.
The team will continue to promote this opportunity in Canada, so other departments can embrace this great opportunity in helping a local charity.
